Infant - This class is for newborns through 18 months. We have age-appropriate toys and volunteers who love to rock babies and play with them. If your child should need you during the service, we will put your tag number on the screen at the front of the auditorium.
18 Month - 2 Year Old - The age range in this class is from 18 months through 2 years. They will spend time playing and having circle time where they will have music and a story. They will also have the opportunity to color a picture that will be related to the story they heard that day.
3 Year Old - We are currently using Gospel Light Curriculum. Children will experience a variety of activities that relate to their lesson. Crafts, story time, and dramatic play are just a few methods used to reinforce what your child is learning. Time is also spent in free play where children learn to play and share with others.
4 - 5 Year Old - This class include 4 year old as well 5 year old children who have not yet entered Kindergarten. We are using Gospel Light Curriculum in this class as well; the structure is similar to the 3 Year Old Class, but the activities will be more challenging and geared to this age group.
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade - To enter this class your child must be 5 years old by August 31st and entering Kindergarten. This class incorporates several methods to teach children, they have a time for worship and large and small group activities. We are using Elevate curriculum which uses a DVD format for a portion of their lesson.
3rd - 5th Grade - A variety of curriculum is used in order to stay relevant to this age group. We show them how the Bible will teach them how to live in today's world. We spend time teaching and encouraging them how to have a personal relationship with Jesus, and how to be a Christ-follower in today's world. For example, we will talk about peer pressure, friendship, and choices, and how all of those impact our lives.
When you check your child into Kid's Creek, you can be reassured that they will be safe and secure. We strive for all children to have a great time while they learn about Jesus and His love for them. We use a variety of teaching methods such as dramatic play, arts and crafts, games, as well as video to engage children in the lessons. Check out our Class Descriptions.
All volunteers have completed and passed a federal background check prior to serving in Kid's Creek. We have a secure check-in and check-out process that we use for each child. When a child is checked into Kid's Creek, they are issued an alphanumeric code which is printed on their name tag and on a corresponding parent tag. In order for your child to be released to you, the parent tag MUST be shown. If you should lose your tag, be prepared to show photo ID.
We will ask you to complete a Registration Form on your first visit to Kid's Creek. We keep track of any allergies and medical or behavioral issues that may impact their time in class. Information is kept confidential and given only to those who are in a direct teaching position with your child.
We have several children with food allergies and sensitivities; therefore, we do not routinely serve snacks. Occasionally, we may serve a snack as part of a special event or party. If this should happen in your child's class and they have a known food issue, you will be contacted prior to that Sunday to obtain permission for your child to have a snack. Each week snacks that are provided by volunteers are available in the lobby after each service.
Each week in Kid's Creek children (ages 3 through 5th Grade) have an opportunity to give an offering. Their offering is used to fund quarterly projects to serve children in our community and abroad. Teaching compassion and caring for our neighbor is a big part of what we do in Kid's Creek. Past projects have included a school supply drive and adopting a family at Christmas to provide them with gifts and necessities.
We want the kids to have hands-on experience helping people, not just putting money into a jar. We want them to have an active role in serving our neighbors; we will take time during class for them to do a project hands-on like packing up hygiene kits for kids in a homeless shelter or making art kits for children in Africa. It makes the children so proud that they too can make a difference in the life of someone who is hurting and in need.
Currently there are several opportunities to serve in Kid's Creek Children's Ministry, we would love for you to be a part of our team nurturing and being a part of leading children to Christ.
The responsibilities for the Infant and 18 Month - 2 Year Old classes include supervising the children playing, caring for infants, and comforting little ones who may be experiencing a hard time leaving Mom and Dad.
To serve in Kid's Creek, all volunteers must complete and pass a federal background check. Training is part of the orientation to Kid's Creek and volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time in the classroom observing and training with a leader from that class.
