River Rock Prayer Ministry

Continually communicating with God through prayer has a place of great importance at River Rock Church because it is a vital part in the spiritual growth of every believer as we seek God's will for our lives. At River Rock, prayer is an integral part of Sunday worship services, on-going Life Groups, and various workshops offered throughout the year with the intention of encouraging and nurturing a deep personal prayer-life in all of us.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5: 16-18

In addition, River Rock Church has established a Prayer Team to provide timely intercessory prayer on behalf of those facing times of personal needs, and also encourages the formation of Prayer Cells where two or more individuals commit to pray together on a regular basis.

Prayer Team

The Prayer Team is a group of intercessory prayer warriors that are committed to pray for the prayer needs as they are made known through the River Rock Church family. Prayer requests are passed directly on to the Prayer Team through prayerteam@river-rock.org or calling the church office.

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for every one - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself up as a ransom for all men- the testimony given in its proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and apostle - I am telling the truth, I am not lying - and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. I want men everywhere to lift holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing." I Timothy 2: 1-8

Prayer Cells

Prayer Cells are teams of two or more men or two or more women that meet together on a regular basis to pray in the name of Jesus Christ as they are led by the Spirit of God for each other, the River Rock family, our community, our nation, etc. Keeping the prayer cell groups small; possibly 2 to 4 members; make it easier to build personal prayer relationships, schedule regular meeting times and maintain confidentiality. To find our more about starting your own Prayer Cell please contact: prayercells@river-rock.org.

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them." Matt. 18: 19-20

Pray for Each Other

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is any one happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain and the earth produced its crops." James 5: 13-18

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light." Col 1: 9-12

Pray for Our Pastors, Staff, and Lay Leaders

"Devout yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open the door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should." Col 4: 2-4
