Our Vision The vision of the Student Ministries @ River Rock is to bring students into a relationship with Jesus as we interact with each other and invest in one another, so that we may grow in our walk with God.
Our Mission Connect: We challenge ourselves to connect with God, leaders, and each other as we engage in meaningful relationships. Serve: We choose to use our gifts, talents, and diversities to work together as we go beyond ourselves in serving God and our community. Grow: We continue to grow in our relationship with God and we allow Him to use us to impact the lives of those around us.

Overflow is the Wednesday night program of the Student Ministries @ River Rock Church that meets on a weekly basis. This high-impact, high-energy gathering is perfect for all students grades 6-12. This service is designed for both those who know Christ and those who haven't even heard of him. Overflow seeks to create an atmosphere that embraces young people right where they are at and accepts them just as they are. To do so, Overflow uses a mix of cultural elements like videos, music, drama, small groups, and even text messaging to teach and present the Bible in a dynamic, relevant way.
Overflow is a place where you don't have to be a "somebody" to fit in; you just have to be you. Come check us out! Overflow is a great place to bring some friends, hang out, make some new friends, and learn about God at the same time. At Overflow we talk about real-life issues that every student faces - things like peer pressure, school, family issues, moral issues, and spiritual issues - and how the Bible applies and is life-changing in all of those areas. At the end of the day, Overflow is about reaching students and teaching them to love God and love each other with all of their heart.
During the school year, Overflow meets from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at River Rock Church. Through the summer Overflow will continue to meet but will be short running from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays. Check out the church calendar for any cancellations or activities throughout the year.
The Journey Classes are a sub-ministry of the Student Ministries @ River Rock offered to all students who want to go deeper in their walk with Christ. "The Journey" is a series of four sequential classes that strives to teach students spiritual principles and disciplines that apply to leadership, personal development, and spiritual growth. Each class is different and offers students the potential to identify and learn who God created them to be. The purpose of the Journey Classes is to partner with parents in preparing students to have a biblical view of the world they live in and a foundation on which they can build their lives.
Journey 101 - Introducing Jesus' Vision
The first Journey class introduces students to three callings that Christ called all of his followers to: a call to relationships, a call to a life of service, and a call to a life of spiritual dependence on God. We cover these three callings and look at them from a practical perspective that students can understand and implement in their lives.
Journey 201 - Understanding What It Will Take
The second Journey class helps students understand key spiritual disciplines that are necessary for their journey of faith. The disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and giving are discussed along with ways to make those areas a part of daily life.
Journey 301 - Learning Who You Are
The third Journey class helps students identify how they have been gifted by God, and how they can use their gifts and passions to make a difference in the lives of others. Once those gifts are identified, students are challenged to act upon them and seek opportunities where their gifts can be used in the church and community.
Journey 401 - Launching Into Mission
The final Journey class pieces the three previous classes together and helps mobilize students into a lifelong mission of furthering the kingdom of God. We revisit Jesus' vision and mission and make it our own vision and mission so that lives will be impacted and changed.

Being a parent of a Jr. High or Senior High student is never an easy task! And if you have two or more, it's even harder! That's part of the reason why The Student Ministries @ River Rock exists. We're here to partner along with you as you guide your student through his or her teenage years. We know how important it is for your teenager to connect with other students his or her age and to engage in meaningful relationships with each other and God. We value your child and we desire to see spiritual growth take place in all of the lives of our students. Our volunteers are great and they work hard at making sure that every student is welcomed and feels "a part" of The Student Ministry @ River Rock! They care deeply about what's happening in the lives of the students and they are always encouraging students to follow Jesus and His examples in their daily lives.
Since you're the parent of a Jr. or Senior High student, we know that they may not always keep you in the loop of what's going on in the Student Ministries so we have some ways for you to stay informed. At the beginning of every month, we send out an e-newsletter that informs parents about things like activities, important dates, message series, and more. If you would like to be added to this email list, click the More Info button below. At the bottom of this page, you can also download permission forms for activities and events as well as medical release forms as they are needed for those activities. The church calendar is also updated with upcoming Student Ministries events for your convenience.
As always, parents are welcome to attend any of our ministry programs to get a better feel for what takes place and how it functions. Thanks for visiting our page and if you have any questions, feel free to contact Ricky Ortiz, Pastor of Student Ministries.
